Yves

I rarely make tools. I really needed this one. I enjoyed it.

Made from 1/2" mild steel bar. Length 16". To bend stock up to 7/16".

The hole was slit and drifted to receive a 5/16" tenon on the 1/2" leg.

Nice work on that one.  [thumb]

Rule #10;  "I can make that" translates to; "I'm to cheap to buy it new."

Yves,
Can you post a pic of the tool in action ?
Being new I can visualize how I THINK it should be used but would like to see it at work.
I like your method of splitting the handle for the installation of the pin and the twist in the handle, nice touch.

Scrambler82,

The bending bar is used to help bending material. With it, you control much better the point where you want the bar to bend. It provides more control. If the pic is not sufficiently eloquent, I'll try and get a better one. But you will have to wait for my girlfriend to come back …

By the way, I'm glad you like it. It is a good tool, well worth the time spent to make it.

Thks for the pictures.

I thought it might be used as pictured but I wasn't sure.

Something for me to keep in the back of my head for the future.

Again thanks.

They are primary tools in my shop. Well done.

A suggestion. The set, like tongs, should be made to fit specific sizes of stock. The closer the tines are, the finer the details you can scroll,,, or correct.

So for any size stock make the opening a bit bigger than the parent stock.

For half inch, make the opening say no more than 9/16".

I have benders from 1/4"-3/4" at 1/8" increments and from 1" to 3" at 1/2" increments.

Obviously, do them as needed. A good "starter" set would be for 3/8", 1/2", and 5/8".

I make mine from old grader blade. Using this I can do quite a bitof scrolling cold.
