Does anyone have any good links for buying W1 or any decent blade forging carbon steel?

I use a couple of sources.  For forging steels I'll sometimes use Admiral but their products for the most part aren't the highest quality and don't come annealed.  For the high quality stuff go with New Jersey Steel Baron.  His stuff is a little more but well worth the extra expense.

Rule #10;  "I can make that" translates to; "I'm to cheap to buy it new."

Ive bought from NJ steel baron but like now.  The thickness and size I want of it seems anything is never available.
that being said they have decent prices I think, if slightly higher. I get my 1084 there.  Also I did find this place for some W1 1-1/4 drill rod. http://www.speedymetals.com/pc-3662-8292-1-14-rd-w-1-drill-rod.aspx

I would add http://www.onlinemetals.com  into your search. Check their prices and quality to see if it would work for you.  http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?id=1313&step=2&top_cat=1354

I do buy my brass from them.  I haven't tried any tool steels as I'm happy with the suppliers I'm using.

Well, I was answering Steve Myers. And like he said New Jersey Steel Baron doesn't seem to stock W1 much. But I find it doesn't hurt to find different prices every once in a while to keep them honest.
