Neat little hammer.

Rule #10;  "I can make that" translates to; "I'm to cheap to buy it new."

The weight is a little over 2 1/2 lbs.

what steel did you use? Did you buy it new or was it scrap metal? I have a 1940 Ford 9n tractor axle in the shop I thought would make decent hammers eventually.

@Yesteryear: Thanks.
Personally, I like using my 4 pounder for all-around stuff, but hey, everyone's got a favorite hammer.

Hank, how thick is that axle? I haven't seen anything thicker than 1 1/2 inches in axle, though I haven't seen tractor axles.

It's 2 inches in diameter. The spline area is about two and a half.

Nice. Knowing axles, it should be pretty decent for a hammer.
