I need advice. I picked up some stainless steel tubing on thanksgiving. It was part of a boat rail and is approximately  1 inch in diameter. My concern is what I do not know about toxic fumes from heating up to forge. I did find information on dangers of welding it and grinding stainless. Not much on forging it.

I plan on using it for some candle operas and opening the tube and flattening it for other projects.

Thanks.

Chromium hexavaliant is a toxic gas given off. You'll probably find that stainless isn't worth your time. Since your outside I doubt you'll be exposed to any fumes, it will just frustrate you.

Rule #10;  "I can make that" translates to; "I'm to cheap to buy it new."
