Just wanted to say hello from dry ridge KY. I'm just starting out and was looking for anyone in the greater Cincinnati/ northern Kentucky area interested in blacksmithing. I've contacted the Cincinnati blacksmith guild and am looking for any smiths closer to home. Anyway enough rambling.
Thanks,
             Pnut (Mike)

Howdy From Alabama.  You should be able to find an Abana group.  Also look up the Quad State meeting, I believe it's in Ohio.  Biggest smithing meeting in the world.

well im not very close to you but hello and good luck anyway. I would suggest going to the local guild you talked about. They may have a directory of members and you may find someone closer to you that way. I know the closest guild for me when I started was 1 & 1/2 hours away from me but it helped me find other smiths closer to me. Another good place to checkmay be any farm museums or fab and welding shops You might get surprised who works there and what they do.

Welcome from PA maybe you could try hanging a simple note at the local gas station or tractor supply they sometimes have those little bulletin boards with services and things for sale there

Hi Mike and welcome. Glad you found your way here. Can't help you with smith in your area since I am on the other side of the planet. What are you starting with? Equipment, intended projects etc. ?

Marc, I'm starting out with a wood box filled with dirt and a yard of 136# rail. I plan on making tools punches chisels etc. Just trying to build my skill set right now. Later decorative items and possibly knives. Sky's the limit once I accumulate the basic techniques.

Sounds good. It would be great if you could find someone near you to share experiences.

Here is a video from some blacksmith down under. Something different from the ubiquitous knife and railway spikes.

Howdy, I'm from Menifee county KY I've been a loner Smith here for about 4 years. My father got me started in the craft and man that was it for me. I remember watching him when I was little, can't believe I didn't pick it up sooner. If you ever wanna try to meet and do some smithing I'll be alright with that.
