Got some shop time in this afternoon. Welded the base plate on the rod/bit. Leveled up the RR and the bar. The piece of iron between the two is a piece of the undercuts. My question is, could it be made into a hot cut tool fixed to the space where it sits? Or would it be better to fashion a Hardy hole with some thick wall tubing and plate and set into the wood in the same space? I think if you were to do that with the hardy thing, it would be best for it to be at the same level as the other two, because you don't want those getting in the way if you're trying to forge something down there. You could get injured.
