Looking good.  Just remember, if you try to forge weld the borax will eat the soft firebrick like water does cotton candy.

Well, if you get a sacrificial piece of kiln shelving cut to slip into the forge, that would work. Then it could be taken out if really wanted. (Personally, I like the stuff always there.)
