The Moran Shop & Museum, Old National Pike, will be open from 11 am - 3 pm. The purpose of the William F. Moran, Jr. Museum and Foundation is to educate, preserve and promote the ancient art and craft of hand-forged knives and tools used in bladesmithing, and to establish a William F. Moran Museum for the collections and presentation of hand-forged knives and blacksmith metalwork, and to preserve The Moran Shop as a working bladesmith shop.  William F. Moran, Jr. or Bill Moran (May 1, 1925 - February 12, 2006) was born in Frederick, Maryland and is considered the father of the modern knife forging movement. He is credited with reintroducing the process of making pattern welded steel (the ancient process called Damascus steel).  Stop by his Knife Shop on December 9 to learn more about this craft.
