This is my kind of shopping. [wink]

Found it at flea market. Be interesting to see how long it takes me to get it working.

Just make something!

Nice find.  I never knew how handy those were until I got one.  [cool]

Rule #10;  "I can make that" translates to; "I'm to cheap to buy it new."

Yup, this is my second one. I might try to shed off from my shop and actually put this one on a stationary post.

I'm going to soak it in water for a while and see it the rust will crumble off. Got that advice from some of the old timers elsewhere. Hopefully it will work. I'll post pics..etc...

I saw a write up on restoring an old flintlock in American Frontiersman Magazine. I think tractor supply or harbor freight has this Evapo-Rust. It might be nothing more than naval jelly. I wouldn't post this if it was only an advertisement. However, there was an article on cleaning rust so let that be the testimony. I've never used it. Here a link to the website.  http://www.evapo-rust.com/

I have a bucket of Evaporust. I bought some tongs and a swage block from a guy and he threw it in free. It works okay. He had already used it a lot so there was already a lot of of rust and other stuff mixed in it. Supposedly it works better when it's fresher.

Thanks for all the adVISE [rolleyes]....

Still haven't gotten to this yet, heat makes me lazy.
Picked up another project too, a vintage Craftsman belt drive table saw, think its a model 113 from 1968. Got it really cheap, needs a little refurbing and maybe a new bearing for the blade arbor, but it runs. Now I can barely move around in my shop.
Not blacksmithing but worth sharing anyhow.
