Howdy,

I'm building a forge from an old barbecue. I lined it with clay and ash, and I have a piece of  1 1/2 pipe with a hair dryer attached. I have an anvil, hammers, tongs and some steel bars.

Now what do I do? 8-)

Welcome! You've got a good start. Light a fire and hit some steel. Take a look at the leaf fob. It's a good beginners project.

Rule #10;  "I can make that" translates to; "I'm to cheap to buy it new."

Welcome. Sounds like you're ready to start forging, and yes, hit it while it's hot, stick back in the fire and hit it again!

Welcome to the forum. We have a number of folks getting started here. Best thing to do is try something. Post what's working so others can try it and let us know what's not going well. There's a good knowledge bank here to help you out. The Leaf key fob is a great project as recommended by JMCcustomknives. here's a link.
